Kieth & Fat Tuna he has 9 different kits, 20-30 & 50 sized. He is a bit high on shipping and was a little slow on the delivery, but top notch quality.

steelfish

I have a 40SHA

Tim, do you know if the internals on the 40SHA fits on the 30 sized kit?

this looks really good

I would reach out to Mike for that answer Alex. Most of the time it's just the spool width? But what do I know, I'm a Penn guy

Which reel is more narrow.

Thank you

My guess is the 20 then the 30,40,50 ect.

This the SL20SH frame compared to an AVET MXJ...And yes when the season is over I will get all the salt off my line as this reel will get a full service and new line  ;D

Thank you SoCal for your input...I'm excited about this reel build...Bryan built one an Alan brought it on the SOA charter this June then Warren talked me into using it and I caught 2 Yellowtail on it before thrashing the gears, before all of that I saw your post about your reel...Long story short I blame you all for being nearly $200.00 lighter in the wallet   ;D

Lol BT,

I'll take the blame on this one. I was lucky to buy a SL20SH only fished one time for $50 with the thought of if I found a donner reel at a good price I'd do the frame upgrade as well. I was into the reel around $100 when I thought about another handle, so yes I went there as well. The first frames and side plates for the 20 sized reel did not come with a clicker so I did upgrade to the clicker on side plate later. In the pic you may be able to see I have no clamp on the SL20SH, this was a first generation reel upgrade where no clamp was offered. I only fish the reel with 30 lb toppers and around 10 lbs of drag so I was not worried about the reels foot because of it being machined into the frame, it is not held on by rivets or screws and it is plenty strong IMO. I do like your reel having a clamp though, that would leave me a place to put a hook or jig, which I don't have now.

Anybody looking for a brand new looking stock frame, side plates and other goodies for a SL20SH let me know, I know where you can get one ;)
