I tried twice unsuccessfully to purchase a 10' MH Okuma Rockaway surf rod online. My first attempt was from Tackle Direct. They advertised 10+ were available from their vendors. After waiting six weeks, I gave up and got a refund. I ordered the same surf rod from Amazon. They claimed 17 were available. After a month wait, I gave up on that one also and got a refund. Amazon said the order was shipped to Seattle, WA and lost in transit.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a 10' MH surf rod in the $150-$200 range? I plan on freshwater use for stripers and catfish with 1 oz to 4 oz weights with a Daiwa Revros LT 5000 reel.

I had to look it up but looks like you can order directly from Okuma?

I already checked those. They would be a problem in transport with the 70/30 breakdown. The Rockaways are 2 piece with the 50/50 breakdown. Can't get them behind the seat in the cab of my truck. Thanks, I'll eventually find something.

Yes, you can buy them directly from Okuma, but they're $30 more plus shipping on top of that.

I like the Ugly Stik Big Water rods for surf casting with large reels. Available practically everywhere including Walmart. 7 year warranty. I have quite a few Ugly Stik rods, different models, mostly spinning, in various sizes from 5'6" to 12'. Happy with all of them so far.

The Okuma Rockaway is much lighter than the Ugly Stik. Yes, I have several Ugly Stiks also, from 3' to 9'. Also have an 8' Bigwater. I'll be ok, I also have a 10' MH heavy Eagle Claw surf spinning rod, just want something lighter. The 10' Rockaway weighs only 9.2 ounces.

Thanks for the heads up, Lee. I ordered from Fish Field. Hopefully it won't take a month for delivery.

i have an 11' mh penn battalion surf rod that works really well with either 20 lb mono on a 706z or 30 lb braid on a penn 4500 SSVI. it casts really well, handles stripers perfectly. it's made in 10' also. it's been my experience when ordering rods that big outfits drop the ball consistently. try grumpy's tackle in n.j. or possibly fishusa, not sure if fishusa still carries surf rods, though. i have, however bought 30 trolling rods from them over the years, no problems. hope this helps   chuck

I was gonna suggest Penn Battalion too

The Penn squadron 3 rod weighs next to nothing. The guides are crap but if you're willing to rewrap new ones on, you really can't beat the value. And if you get rid of their huge goofy heavy guides in favor of Fuji, it gets even lighter.

I have a Okuma Rockaway RA-C 1002ML and like it.  Bryan gave me his Hawaiian Costom HWM-S-1302MHa and it seems a bit tip heavy.
