How are those Eddie Bombs used?  Do you jig them off the bottom?  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

The bottom was 2000' plus.  They call out the depth the fish are at  drop below then and wind up.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Sounds par for the course in jigging for BFT...

Sounds easy until a strong drift is  added.  As of now I have never experianced a good drift.

I'm thinking about building a 24oz bomb for just that reason.
Buy it nice or buy it twice.

I used a 20oz on 100# and scoped out immediately.   If the weather is up,  24oz definitely would be beneficial
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Bomb 16 oz was the heaviest jig I had. Evan called Fish at 250'.  I started copying the guys catching.  (with that strong wind fast drift)   I threw the bomb as far as I could at the beginning of the drop.  definitely not as far as most of the guys but by the time I dropped down 250' I was somewhat close to vertical.   I was able to jig 1 maybe 2x trying to stay near the called out zone. After that it was to scoped out.   I was bit 2x.  Both times were really spot on the depth called. Landed one.  Hope you guys have better weather!!

It seems some boats are taking time during the day to anchor on the Cortez/Tanner banks and fish for yellowtail instead of driving around all day looking for bft. I love the sound of a little variety on a trip. Driving around all day looking for a biting school of bft to only catch a handful during the day is exhausting.

Hopefully we can do this on our trip.  It's been years since I catch a yellowtail

PJ - It all depends on the weather.  It's going to be a short trip you folks are on so options are limited; but not non-existant.  I mean this trip looks like essentially a bluefin trip, and...bluefin are bluefin.  I hope you guys load the boat.  The majority of whatever success is being had tends to be in the dark; but that doesn't mean you won't be the exception.  Also, even side trips out to the Banks or Coronados will involve some minimal travel and time - for what already is a pretty short trip.  Walk on the boat ready to fish (heck, if I was there this might be a trip where I actully board with the reels mounted).  U am totally stoked for you all and looking forward to reports!!!!! - john

Friends are getting back to port this morning, fishing was good but they lost far too many fish.

The weather looks much better for this trip.  Have a safe and productive trip.
