Are those little blocks supposed to slide on that little ear freely?  Mine are currently glued into place.  It seems to me that if those are centrifugal brakes, they should be moving in and out to rub on that lip on the right side of the reel.  Duh.  Thanks, but I really don't know the guts of this reel yet.

They must slide freely to help prevent backlashes. But your reel will work fine without those blocks. Just educate your thumb.
