The harbor freight ones are fairly hard steel , but still can be worked with a file .       Other brands maybe harder steel .
The dremel with the little cut off wheel does`n put to much heat into the steel jaws , your fingers will gage the heat . ::)

I have a shimano corsair that I am working on . The bearing is 1.5 x5x2 mm in a plastic housing that was in there .
I had to make another puller for the smaller size to get it out .   I did try to get it out with a magnet , like you can with some other shimano models .

Gfish

My "Old Man" told me several times when he noticed me fooling around on his work bench and failing at something; "if you don't have a tool make one". After he passed, I brought his work bench down to the wife's house. Knowing me the way you want a wife to, she insisted that we move it there.

I agree Joe.  My screw and bolt collection spans 4 plastic drawer systems with a box for overflow.  Saved my butt countless times.
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

 Great idea Joe !!

Special thanks to your grampa, telling you your head isn't just a hat rack !!
