Bearing tolerances

I recently found a 700c for sale locally.  I noticed that when retrieving, the handle would stop at almost one full turn.  I tore it down and make sure that nothing was in the pinion or main gear, reassembled and the same thing was happening.  I then made sure the oscillator was flat and not bent, along with the shaft and the cross wind block.  Everything looked good until I put on the side plate.  If I unscrewed the side plate I could see the side plate slight moving on retrieve.  I then turned my attention to the nylong bushing that sits on the maingear and slides into the side plate.  As a test swapped out the nylon bushing from a 500c to the 700c, which resolved the binding.

The "bad" bushing will spin smoothly on a 7mm drill and the main gear on 700c, outside the reel so I'm thinking it's probably the bushing is somewhat out of round.  Maybe I will put the bushing on the 7mm drill bit and chuck it up on the lathe and take off a little bit to see if that helps.

If that doesn't work, rather than trying to track down a nylon bushing, perhaps a better replacement would be a bearing?

Has anyone done it for these two reels (Daiwa 500C or 700C).  How did it work out for you and where did you end-up getting your bearing from?

I took some measurements of both bushings so I'm thinking that I need a 7mmx14mmx3.5mm bearing.

Does that sound correct?  If so, what tolerances or allowances do manufacturers generally make so that the bearings fit easily into the hubs or housing?

700C: 6.97mm ID x 13.91mm OD x 3.4mm width

500C: 6.97mm ID x 13.94mm OD x 3.42mm width

I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts on this,

Matt

Thanks Quang.  Jason echoed the same advice.  Was thinking of getting one of these to test.  I've only got two reels to upgrade.  Unless anyone else has a need for one of these bearings.  Happy to share.

My question was with bearings, these measurements must be somewhat in excess.  Neither the outer diameter of my bushings nor the ID of where the bearing will sit inside the side plate is 14mm.

Thanks Quang - I'd like that.  I'll send you something you can turn on your new lathe.
