Hello,
I recently acquired a Penn Delmar 285 in a small group of reels and I believe the spool is aluminum and in pristine condition. Can someone tell me what other reels this spool would fit. The Delmar is a little rougher than I like for my reels to be and I was thinking of swapping the spool to a more desirable reel. Also, does anyone know of a quick cross reference chart for Penn reel parts? I haven't taken the reel apart yet but a Google search says that the spool is a 29L-85. Does that sound right?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, that spool fits the penn 85, the modern seaboy 185, the delmar 285, and the long beach 60

The 285 & long beach 60 are basically identical, except the delmar has no inner chrome rings. All internal and external parts are interchangeable between those 2 reels

Nice find on that spool. Don't know of a single reference chart, but Mystic Reel Parts is a good all-around resource—-and of course—-the forums here.

Thanks for the replies. I also read somewhere that it might fit a 2/0 Senator. Any thoughts on that?

Opps, yes, I kinda spaced out and forgot that it does also fit a 2/0 senator(old age syndrome lol). The 2/0 is just a fancy version of a long beach 60. It also has same internals as the 285

Gfish

I actually did get that aluminum spool off a DelMar for one my Senator 2/0 mods and completely forgot about it . The Delmar took me awhile to find on eBay. Too many reels or too many years...?

For a quick cross reference for Penn Conventional Reels —- I just use one of my Dealer Service Manuals from the old days.  It works very well.

Just locate the part by the description and the Penn Master number.

Then one can just go down the page to see every reel that part fits.

That's the part number for the foot/stand.  Delmar had a long history and they didn't change much.
