Reel Repair by Alan Tani

Just curious to see how many reels most collectors have. I at one point was buying all I can. Obsessively. Had near 700. Sold off nearly 500. Mainly at a loss. There were just too many. Brain went haywire looking at the bins full. Now near 350. Neatly on shelves. But it's stuff I truly want. Obtained with little to no obsessive buying. Feels much better!!!

As long they made you feel good ,just to look or fish with them .It's never too many

One can never have too many reels, especially if they're like me and just plain enjoy gazing at and fondling them every now and then.  Heck, I regularly fish with around 30 different setups.

I have a list of just my vintage reel collection around 75,not counting modern reels.I have sold some to buy others.I reely have all the ones I sought after & have
backups of my favorites.Not looking
for any at the moment.

Storage becomes an issue at some point,a member emailed me the other
Day at one point he had 750 reels.

That would be overwelming to me but
as long as the bills are paid,groceries in the pantry,wife is happy & you got room for them.

I have some shelfies but rotate around 10 I actually use on a daily basis in my pond.I'll fish with one until I catch some & rotate.

I have to say the one that floated to the top is the 2062 I got at a flea market for $15.It was missing the spool & had a broken bail spring.I repaired & it is one of the smoothest reels I own.
