Hey guys – first time poster – long time lurker.  I first saw one of Alan's tutorials on the Coastside web site years ago and it gave me the knowledge to open up the first reel I ever repaired a 4/0.

My Christmas present to me this year is going to be an upgrade for a few of my reels.  I've been a garage sale Penn collector for 20 years.  I've got a pretty good collection of small/ medium reels.  Proud to say I never paid more than $20 for a reel and most were in the $5 to $10 range.  (Boy, that's going to change now!!)

I'm going to do a couple of Squidders, Jigmasters, 3/0's, 4/0's.

I've been in contact with Alan about SS sleeves and some Tiburon frames, Lee/Keta about SS Dogs, Dawn about carbonex drags for under the main gear and SS yokes, pennparts about all of my HT-100, bushings...

My (first) questions are about bearings –
I need bearings for my 140/145 squidders, 505HS/506HS jigmster and 113H-4/0
I think I need –
   0.125 x 0.500 x 0.1719 x 4 – squidder
0.125 x 0.375 x 0.1562 x 8 – jigmaster HS – 4/0
They should be at least - SS ABEC 5
I would like to get bearings with removable shields, I've never had any luck removing pressed in shields.  Way to many times I've gumbyied up the bearing trying to remove the shield.

Does anybody have a good economical source for this type of bearing?

When I wanted Bearings I called Boca & spoke to a guy [Larry] that set me up with what I wanted. Just ask all your questions. He also sent a lot of reading material & decals.

I am sure Dawn could help the same way.
I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Thanks,
That FR-006 looks like exactly what I was looking for.
Now I just need to find the one for the squidder.

Another question -

What was the outcome with the Isutami bearing company?

I bought well over a hundred assorted bearings from them including anti reverse bearings no problem at all with them,no complaints from buyers either, the stainless shows no pitting in my salt water reels i do use Alans greaser and yamaha marine greese on the bearings , PM Shelby if you have any questions he's a good guy to deal with.

Update, ordered 2 sets for 113h, said fr-006 on package, but way to small, working on it as we speak for return either the bearing is listed wrong or put in wrong package, but it's best to call them toll freee and order. Seems there is a mix up somewhere, spoke with them Mon. afternoon and thier system was down, they are just a few miles away so I will just go there and compare and post the correct number toniite....Dan

Drove down to Boca Bearing, seems talking on the phone is sometimes useless, Yes the correct number is FR-006, seems the bearings have a tolerance level +or- and what they sent was all the way to the minus side and didn't fit the spool shaft. In the mean time when I got home with new set, I ordered another set via paypal on the 4th of Jan.
and guess what ???? Never got the second set!!! Called and called and was assured they would be shipped out straight away, It is now 10 days later and still no second set, my advice is $#@^&%$^$(*&_  I'll keep it to myself, but definately more trouble than the savings I got

I just ordered these off ebay: " 40 fishing Bearings SMR104ZZ 2Z Fishing Stainless steel Bearings 4mm/10mm/4mm"

If you search ebay for exactly the above you can worm your way around to "sutamibearings", "See other items" or Visit store: "ISUTAMI" .

Good selection.

http://www.isutami.com/application/Fishing_Reel_Bearings/pid_5

The above web site sells 1 bearing SSMR104ZZ for $2.46.  I paid $30.95 shipped for 40 bearings SRM104ZZ from ebay. I hope they're decent.  :-\
The web site pic is not of a 4x10x4 bearing. It looks like 6x10x3.

Check ebay first.
