Dwight, when I started fishing for mangrove jacks a few years back, I was shocked by the technique of some of my ozzy friends here...
cranking down the drag knobs with pliers!    with 50lb braid & 40lb flouro. for maybe 5-10lb fish!
I'd like to think my technique is a little more refined.
My mangrove outfits are Stradic 4000FJ- 15lb braid to 30lb flouro on a 6' Fenwick eagle GLC
and Penn 965 30lb braid to 40lb flouro on a 6' Shimano Mexican Raider

'I'm going to start a new thread with some Mangrove jack videos I have bookmarked...
and then I'm gonna take the yak out and try to smash me a couple.

I'll be on the Gulf Coast for a couple/few weeks in October...
Last trip back, family stuff didn't allow me much time for fishing.
