I picked up a 1st generation Fathom 30LD2 from an Australian Ebay seller.  Brand new in box for an incredible price. If you are not familiar with the 30LD2 is a 99 width reel and shares the internals with the 15XN and 25N Fathoms.  Bryan Yound and I used his 30LD2 to land a 150# striped marlin on the SOA a couple years back. It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Nice score Bill

Garcia Mitchell 754 fly reel.. it has a unique drag system, not currently working ;-)
There's a dog that looks like an Abu Ambassadeur anti-reverse dog, which is not working to engage the drag.
Not entirely clear to me why not, will work on it some more..

The handle looks too small. 😉
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Just a few reels and spools. The cost $10 per reel was nice, but cost for shipping nearly half that was not good.  The Mitchell 408 looks to be in good shape is what caught my eye.

At the yard sales Friday I found a Zebco 6010 in very good condition. At the flea market today I found a Fury Diamond 550. It's a Japanese made large spinning reel, about the size of a Penn 704. I also found Ocean City reels, a 934 and a Seal Beach. For one dollar, I picked up a barn fresh Abu 1000 on a taped together Daiwa rod.

Wow, bja105 made a haul.

Mine was a little smaller; another WalMart clearance (see my 3/19 post).  Trilene Big Game for a buck a spool, and all kinds of Eagle Claw hooks (made in US) for a buck a pack.   I make some lures for, among other quarry, largemouth bass & northern pike, and since I don't care for treble hooks, some 1/0 and 2/0s will fill the bill nicely.

Very good deal .Trilene line is as good as any expensive line and if you keep inside it last very long time .While braided line got cheaper mono get more expensive .

Quote from: JasonGotaProblem on April 08, 2025, 01:29:04 AMA very kind member sent me this today. And down the rabbit hole we go.
For my 2500C I have ordered an avail spool (2mm depth), lightened line guide and upgraded cog wheel, and gears from Simon Shimomura (with clutch improvement kit). Also have full ceramic bearings.

I may try to make my own mag brake, it certainly wouldn't be a first.

What's crazy is how much deeper the rabbit hole goes.

I found me another EX Seeker, 270h-7.

Enjoy the rabbit hole Jason, it's a deep one

Nice find on the seeker, those ex rods are hard to find, not many people let them go

When I arrived late to Day at the Docks, ironically, it was just sitting there on the rack of used rods.

The bonus for me that day was that my youngest daughter enjoyed the boat ride on the Producer. So, I might have a new fishing buddy. Her first trip is this summer.
