My wife convinced me that I had too many reels so I sold a few and gave a heap away. I just kept the thirty that I use the most.

That's a nice spread you got there Magilla, looks like you have all type of fishing covered.
Thanks for sharing.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

I bought it about 1970 and it is still going strong. The little ABU 5000c was bought in 1971 and appart from a fresh set of drag washers has never had a part replaced.

Dear All,
Any ideas about the reel's brand and model?

Yes mate, the three on the left are all Alvey's. The one on the top left is a 6" light surf reel, it doesn't have a drag, just a fiber friction washer under the star that you can use to apply pressure to the spool if the rod is left set and for storage. The yellow Alvey is a 650E1 which does have a drag system. The handles are attached to the spool so when line is going out you have to get your hands out of the way real quick or you will get a wrap across the knuckles but it does have an anti-reverse system. With Alvey's most of the drag is applied with the palm of your hand on the spool, no Cal's required.

Before having spinners and multipliers I fished a lot with sidecasters. In the second picture (below the vintage spinners) is a russian sidecaster reel.
