Maxed Out

Salt fishing opportunities here in Washington state are very restricted and highly monitored, often with in season changes and closures due to catch rates.

That being said, it's a must to get while the getting is good. It's now prime time for Westport albacore, and inner Puget sound, September is prime time for coho salmon migrating in from the ocean. Got to hop on my favorite albacore charter after they had a few clients cancel on a trip. Got back home from that trip and next morning was chasing local coho that came in early after 10 days of heavy rain. Got limits every day for 9 strait days. Today I slept in to get a few things done around the house.

Nice to have fish stacking up in the freezer, and more yet to come before it all ends in early October.

For live bait albacore, I took my ice blue Cortez 99 jigmaster filled with 50# 8 strand, and 25# flouro top shot, mounted on Shimano tvc66mh. It performed flawlessly and brought a bunch of longfin to gaff. Hope to get another shot at albacore this month. Also need to rearrange my freezer to make room for more salmon and longfin. Life is good !!

Way to go Ted.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Vintage Offshore Tackle

It's great to see that you're getting your fair share of time on the water Ted, and doing lots of catching.

Whether it's running your boat or fishing on a charter, you're always a highliner.

Gfish

Washington State is our best lower 48 opportunity for Coho, from what I hear.

Yes Gregg, it was a bumper year for coho. Most areas are hatchery coho only, but a few areas inside Puget sound had some opportunity to keep wild coho as well. Ended up with 42 coho on my catch record cards. Done fishing till next summer. Busy now canning albacore and smoking salmon.

Here's a couple 12# coho we caught just a few days ago on last open day for the best area. Also pic of latest batch of smoked salmon
