For bang for your buck in a modern reel they're hard to beat.
It was $170 to my door!

i was out of town and didn't see that deal until it was too late, oh well, i don't need another reel anyway
I didn't need it either but it ceased being about need a long time ago!

I have been trying to control my gear addiction,  but couldn't pass up some N.O.S. gear sets. Newell 500/112h 5:1 will be going into my Red T3N, and I'm switching the Newell 4:1 gear set for the new Accurate 4:1 set.

Picked up a couple Daiwa Laguna rods from Dunham's on clearance - $31 each. Feels like a lot of rod for the money.

i didn't buy this recently but i've had it since 2012ish. i haven't used it in over 10 years.

im new to servicing and repairing reels so i was looking through old boxes in my garage for reels i could disassemble for practice.  i completely forgot that i had it. while looking for its schematics, i saw that they're now selling for $200+ on eBay. apparently they're discontinued and people are fond of the rear drag feature? not really sure what i want to do with it, i just thought it was kind of funny and lucky.

Got a fly tying kit for my birthday....

Brewcrafter

Cool PJ especially with all the fly fishing photos you have been posting.  I know on last weekend's Zoom call that Gobi King had tied some flies to take on a trip he is on and Jurelometer was giving some tips.  Looking forward not only to seeing what you make but also seeing you nailing fish with your imitations! - john

Oh, boy.  You are looking at a rabbit hole that is deeper and more addicting than reel collecting/accumulating and repair.  At least that is how it's been for me.
I find fly tying to be a great therapeutical escape from everyday BS; I enjoy tying at least as much as I do fishing the flies I tie.
I suggest you never investigate tying classic Atlantic salmon flies and the traditional materials used in them.  Dreams of silver monkey, Indian crow, and pig's wool will haunt your sleep.
Nine of the eleven voices in my head are telling me to go fishing today.

I actually never got into fly tying because I knew it would lead down a very deep rabbit hole. My wife got the kit for me so down the rabbit hole i go!!!!
