Quote from: akfish on Today at 05:57:32 PMHmm. Doesn't this mean that the sardine can't really swim? That has to affect the effectiveness doesn't it? A dropper rig with the bait on a foot or two of leader would look more natural I would think...

The great thing about this rig is you can drop it fast and get it to the zone before the fish are gone and it can't tangle.

It does limit the baits ability to swim a lot but it does still move around a lot.

The trend the last few trips has been shorter/smaller jigs like sk, WJC hd, eddie bombs, heavy snipers and tungsten jigs.

The hot jigs right now are tungsten jigs because they are way heavier than lead and come in smaller sizes. Most TG jigs are shipping out of Japan right now so they wouldn't get here in time for your trip.

I highly suggest if you see any in any local store that you pick up 4-6 in the 150-180g size.

To her credit and my annoyance my wife is an extremely frugal person who almost never spends a penny on herself, and when she does she feels bad about it and sometimes needs to be reassured that it's ok to be happy about a purchase.

Alan's steel handle blade arrived today. I'm happy about that purchase.

I have about a hundred. Wife can't complain, she has an equal number of handbags. Brinkmanship at it's finest.

That's what we say down here as well, but the thing is, we fish for pelagic fish that travel the world's oceans.

I started counting once in my shop attic I have a rod rack up there for least used combos. By the time I got down to the shop floor I was thirsty & stopped counting. The rack on the shop floor is full.I have one in each vehicle,4 hefty totes full & some on display.7 on the floating dock,2 on golf cart,3 in garage .One day I may count & make a spreadsheet with photos so the vintage reels value will be appreciated ,when I go to that Crystal river.I rather spend my time fishing though, than counting :fish
