Search for micrometer adjustment spanner wrenches. The look about the same size. Without dimensions, I can't tell for sure.

A two speed reel always has more resistance when in high gear - because you are doing more work for each turn of the handle in high gear,  usualy two to 3 times that of low gear, for each handle revolution. And this is noticable even with an empty spool. However a really stiff handle in high gear ( and to a lesser extent in low gear)  may indicate too high a drag setting causing side loading , But I would not expect the handle resistance in high gear on a two speed 30 in high gear to be much higher than a single speed 50 unless there is an issue with the 30.
Handle length and gear ratios of the respective reels will also play a part in this between the two reels to some degree.

Yep. It looks like it's the shape of a lollipop that fits inside of the spring, am I right? The ball bearing I have in there now works, but will most likely pop out anytime I remove the gear and then it turns into Where's Waldo, lol!

Alright Tommy! Interesting. I see how it works. Kinda like an AR roller clutch bearing with only one roller.

This pic is the 200 Underspin model from the same basic design & timeframe. It looks like you are missing the little stud that holds the end of the spring. You can see the natural metal on your 100 model where that post was/should be. The stud is also shown in the catalog description pic/drawing.

BTW, the 1966 Heddon Catalog states that the AR is roller lock and woks instantly.
   

I'd rather add a YTS kit to a 113h... with 4:1 gears!
