Got the spool finished. I painted the spool drag brake / name script red and shined the spool with oil.
Installed it on the reel and drag works great. Such a light gear click to it. So subtle.

Question: Did these have anti reverse? This one does not. Is something missing or just an early version? The reel had obviously been tinkered with before I got it. Is this a part that could be removed or not reinstalled?

Anyways, all wrapped up and what a task. So many micro parts and tiny screws. Solid body case was a first, as well.
I feel I can tear into my no.2 without issue.
The guys who built these reels, in the day, wow! Cheers to them!

This will be getting crappie catching action soon! I'm pretty sure it's going to be in regular rotation, too.
Mechanical bail arm, so cool and reel just oozes swagger.

When an item is described as having a part that will never fail, that, to me, is the equivalent of a lifetime "forever" warranty.  If the manufacturer doesn't want to stock replacement parts that they have guaranteed for life, then they at least ought to offer you a new equivalent reel from models they do have.

Quote from: Gfish on Today at 04:56:14 PMVery interesting design as spincasters go. I'm tempted to get one, but can't live with a plastic main gear. The Pflueger Pelican spinner I recently got has a plastic main with a DAM Quick—-like AR ratchet—-molded into the back side, and yeah, it doesn't hold due to mangling from the spring loaded pawl.
Interested to see if you figure it out...

I didn't get a chance to take pics and don't want to take it back apart, but was able, thanks to a p/m from one fella and a reply earlier in this post, take an old useless bearing and got a ball bearing to fit and all is well for now. It's almost the original instant A/R!

The gear is very robust, at least a quarter of an inch and the teeth a pretty deep, so I think it would take some serious misuse to strip those. As for the cracking I've read about, I can't say, but I have confidence in it.

Thanks

Finished up getting the rest of the exterior parts put on and got the brass check carrier installed. That rivet pin was a #### getting back in the check carrier and non rotating shaft.
Kudos to Edward Broadfoot. Dude was a superhero! Finally got it set and filed smooth. Spool slid on smoothly.
Pretty much complete, other than a little cleaning up on the spool. I haven't done anything to it yet.

Almost done!!

Quote from: oldmanjoe on Today at 10:39:36 AMI woulds say it`s missing a ball bearing .  Fits on the left side spring .

Thanks! I swear I've worked on a reel that had something similar before. I just can't remember the exact way it worked.

Thanks
Jeff
