If your gonna use the word Ohana, Hawaii rates its own wrench.

Love this idea, Alison and I may be able to help soon.

Pjstevko, I agree! great idea.
Great job Dan!
If this was to happen, this one gets my vote:

It's all about Ohana here...good idea on that Bryan.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

I would love a good quality T shirt with alarge pocket, but the emblem of reel ohana, may be a bit to long to fit on the pocket ?. cheers Donnyboat.
Don, or donnyboat

wallacewt

never heard of ohana, whats ohana?
there will be lots of people never heard of it
cheers

G'day Wallace, I'm pretty sure ohana is Hawaiian for 'family' - I don't think we could get an OZ term like "Reel Mob" off the ground, even if Rothmar2 and exp2000 voted.
Mike
It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

Possibilites are endless guys, I'll do a few more tonight and the next coming days.  Since we aren't in a hurry it helps not make this stuff stressful.  I'm open to ideas to, just don't be offended if every single one doesn't get to the vector art stage.  Drawing out a full conventional or spinning reel takes some time, so I won't get into specific reels per se, but maybe I'll do a generic of each.  Probably like a Senator and a SS (obviously leaving off any logos or verbiage).

Correct on the Ohana Mike.

I threw in the term Nomad for the various areas with only a few members, but I can certainly get some other artwork together with other places.  I was going to do something with 'Syndicate' in it...but as this is such a friendly place, dark words and Old English fonts don't hold true to the ideals around here,  :D

i like the star logo on the top right.  simple and to the point.  "what a drag" is pretty funny, too!!!!!  ;D
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

I woild agree with Tom on stickers, but add embroidered patches --

If a patch costs us $4 -- charge $8 -- with any profits after overhead going to Discover Angling efforts.

I would be good with whatever is decided upon as a logo, as long as Alan approves and is on board with it.

But since there are so many applications -- and it could get expensive, time consuming and cumbersome to organize for one or two people.

(For example -- can I get it in red?, can you ship it fedex?, does it come with pockets?, what other colors?, is the color permanent, or will it fade?, there is a bad seam on mine -- can I return it?, I need Ex long, or XXXL, do you have women's fit? -- it just goes on...)

Just pick out the best design we all agree on (Alan primarily) -- then do embroidered patches and stickers.

Then it could go on jackets, hats, T shirts, work shirts, denim shirts, tackle bags, and anything else you prefer.

The stickers can go on boats, trucks, cars, tackle boxes, rod cases, rocket launchers, tool boxes, or anywhere.

The key is to get a simple, clear, and uncomplicated logo that is instantly recognized and accepted worldwide that we can be proud to display and wear.

Stickers are inexpensive and effective.

Embroidered patches are also cheap and flexible nowadays.

As for sewing them on to various items -- yes, we can do it, or our wives can do it (gets expensive there).

However, what I did was just take it down to the uniform store where we purchase our fire gear -- they have expert people who will sew them on shirts or jackets professionally with a machine for $2 each.

Just my thoughts, as everyone weighs in.

Best,

Fred

I think the patch is a great Idea Fred.
Just the sizing in the T-Shirts would be a pain.
I tried to design one with the Schematic of a Long beach on the back.
The price was $50 a shirt!

mizmo67

I think the patch and sticker idea is awesome.

Dry cleaners that also do sewing/hemming will probably sew the patches on, as well.

I vote patches and stickers

Like Fred said that way anyone can put them on whatever they want....

Bryan Young

I could do it if we are all in agreement.  I can always solicit help from my kids in packing and shipping.

My vote would be first T-shirts with  the Reel Ohana design on the back and the upper right star with AlanTani.com and underneath would read What a Drag! on the front pocket.

For caps, I like the star on the front with what a drag on the rear of the cap.

:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Appreciate your ideas, PJ --

We all know that the member who started yesterday has as much worth as the guy who has been on for 5 years.

Respect and equality are the hallmarks of this site -- with an emphasis on family (Ohana).

We all need to contribute -- as we do, the site develops into a repository of knowledge along with integrity.
